Thrift Style Friday: Lavettra from Atlanta

This week's thrift style influencer is Lavettra in Atlanta, GA. Lavettra shares her thrifted outfit-of-the-day long along with her style inspiration, with the members of the Thrifting Atlanta facebook group. "My style is inspired by many fashion bloggers and current trends," she said. "So much so, that when I am thrift shopping, I look for fashion pieces to help me create outfits similar to what I've seen worn by a fashion blogger."  She said when she wears her thrifted outfit, she says she loves looking cool and getting compliments from others.

"Other than black & gold, I'm not sure what are "traditional" colors to wear for New Year's celebrations, but this model inspired me to wear my thrifted skirt ($1.75-Park Ave Thrift) & shoes ($1.75-Park Ave Thrift) w/my black turtleneck, purchased years ago to church tonight."

When did you fall in love with thrifting?  I fell in love with Thrifting several years ago when my son was in middle school.

"Running errands copycat look. Of course it's inspired by one of my favorite bloggers who models for curvy girls. Partially thrifted; except the vest which was purchased Cato from Clearance rack, the top & denim are from Goodwill. Oh, I also purchased these Pesaro' leather classic pumps, made in Brazil & previously retailed @ $119.09 for $1.75!"

What do you enjoy most about thrift shopping? The one thing I enjoy most about thrifting is the thrill of the hunt. I enjoy finding pieces that are almost identical to outfits I've seen worn by fashion bloggers. Plus finding current trendy fashion too. I also like saving money due to the HUGE discounted thrift store prices. Why waste money on an item just to say you had it first. Some fashion trends never go out of style while others simply aren't worth breaking the bank.

What is your number one tip for thrift shopping success? My number one tip for thrift shopping success is to find your style inspiration, either from bloggers or current fashion trends. Then start thrift shopping for that outfit in mind. Don't give up until you find it!  This has helped me to reduce the cost of many of my outfits, including accessories. If you don't find it at your favorite thrift store, venture out and check other resale options. Just don't spend more than your budget. Visiting stores at least twice in a week will help you find pieces for your outfit.

Everything's thrifted including my trouser socks which were brand new, still in the pkg., except the vest which was on clearance at Cato more than 10 years ago.
